The Boys & Girls Club of Hawthorne partnered with Premio Foods to hold its 17th Annual Every Kid Counts Dinner on Nov. 12 at the Brownstone in Paterson. The dinner is held to recognize 2009 club donors and outstanding youth members.

Among the organizations awarded at the dinner were: Hawthorne PBA Local 200, Dart Promotions, Browning & Forshay, Bae Systems and Downes Tree Service.

"There were about 250 people at the event. It went very well. It was a nice affair," said Club Chief Executive Officer Tom Demko.

The Boys and Girls Clubs of America National Service Award was presented to John Magna, Flo Meyers and Gene Meyers.

Magna has 15 years of service and currently serves as the Club's Development Coordinator. Flo Meyers was honored for 20 years of service as a member of the Club's Board of Trustees and Gene Meyers was honored for 40 years of service, also as a member of the Board of Trustees.

Sen. John Girgenti and Hawthorne Mayor Richard Goldberg both read proclamations to honor Gene Meyers for service.
