Ingredients:
1 pound Premio Premio’s Sweet Italian Sausage, casings removed
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup creamy Caesar salad dressing
1 (8 ounce) package shredded Italian blend cheese
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/8 teaspoon dried red pepper, crushed (optional)
Salt & pepper to taste
- Always cook pork sausage to a minimum internal temperature of 160° F using a meat thermometer.
- Always cook chicken sausage to a minimum internal temperature of 165° F using a meat thermometer.
How to make Caesar Sausage Crustini:
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees (F). Place baguette slices in a single layer on large baking sheet and bake for 5-8 minutes, or until lightly toasted. Remove from oven and set aside.
2. Preheat broiler. In a large non-stick skillet, cook Premio Sausage, onion and garlic until sausage is brown and broken up, and onion is cooked through and tender. Drain off excess fat then set aside to cool.
3. Meanwhile, in large mixing bowl, combine mayonnaise, Caesar salad dressing, cheese, oregano, red pepper (if desired) and salt and pepper to taste; mix until well combined. Mix in cooled sausage mixture and blend until well combined.
4. Spread over toasted baguette slices and return to baking sheet. Place about 6 inches below broiler for about 2-4 minutes or until bubbly. Serve immediately.
