Elise’s Premio Sausage and Red Cabbage Sandwiches

Ingredients:

1 package Premio Hot Italian Sausage
1 cup fresh parmesan cheese, thinly sliced
1 cup mozzarella cheese, thinly sliced
6 long Kaiser Rolls
Aunt Elise’s Favorite Red Cabbage:
4 slices bacon, chopped
1/4 cup onions, chopped
6 teaspoons brown sugar
3 teaspoons vinegar
4 cups shredded cabbage

  • Always cook pork sausage to a minimum internal temperature of 160° F using a meat thermometer.
  • Always cook chicken sausage to a minimum internal temperature of 165° F using a meat thermometer.

How to make Elise's Premio Sausage and Red Cabbage Sandwiches:

1. Pre-heat grill and add Premio Sausage to grill, and grill for about 10-20 minutes or until done.

2. In a frying pan, fry the bacon. Add onion to pan and sauté slightly. Add brown sugar, vinegar and cabbage; simmer over low heat for 20 minutes.

3. Place the rolls on a large platter. Take an ice cream scoop full of the red cabbage and place at the bottom of each bun.

4. Place a sausage on each bun and add cheese to top.
