Ingredients:
1 pound Premio Sausage (choose your favorite)
1 cup chopped red onion
1 1/2 cups chopped celery
1 package dry onion soup mix
2 1/2 cups boiling water
1/2 cup uncooked rice
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup slivered almonds
1 tablespoon butter, melted
- Always cook pork sausage to a minimum internal temperature of 160° F using a meat thermometer.
- Always cook chicken sausage to a minimum internal temperature of 165° F using a meat thermometer.
How to make Simply Sausage & Rice Casserole:
1. In a large skillet, crumble and brown Premio Sausage. Pour off excess fat. Add chopped vegetables and saute until tender. Cover; set aside.
2. Combine soup mix with boiling water in saucepan. Stir in rice, cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Add to sausage mixture, along with salt; pour into greased baking dish.
3. Sprinkle with almonds and drizzle with melted butter. Bake in preheated oven, uncovered, at 375 degrees (F) for 20 minutes. Remove, let cool and enjoy.
